Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his home with the benefits of community service. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. Then he settled in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. In his time at for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
